Movie: The Election

I love gangster movies; there is something about organized crime that I’m quite interested and quite drawn too. Unfortunately gangster-ism movies come in race, the Italian the Russian, the Indian, the Chinese, etc. Ever since I was exposed to these types of movie I’ve always kept special spot for the Chinese gangster movie. It something about tradition, honor and loyalty that I find captivating. The 1st Chinese gangster movie I watched was Young and Dangerous (1-6) they don’t make those kind of movies any more.

This movie was very subtle. But it still has the core essence of a gangster movie. The story is about 2 candidates up for the post of Chairman of the triad group. One tries to bribe his was through and another does it correctly. I won’t give much away but the story line was well written and the choice of characters well casted. Please do watch the movie as I believe the DVD is out on sale.

Diary: Weary Mind

This whole week I’ve been going around town meeting content providers. So I was only in the office half the day. As my appointments we like 9-10 ish I had the opportunity to lie in bed much longer and join the mass public in the use of public transportation. I expected a great big uncivilized crowd rushing to enter the train but to my amazement I found people queuing up nicely behind the yellow lines and taking turns to enter. There were no guards enforcing anything it was just the mass following the rules. This made me very proud of the people of Malaysia, they have evolved.

Last couples of weeks I’ve been having problems with work, it’s like a whirlwind, I feel I have lost control of my team and can’t breathe. I’ve received a resignation letter from one of my team members which is a great blow for me. The team member to me is quite important to me, he is leaving to greener pastures and I wish him all the best. I’m beginning to doubt myself. How do I pick myself up from all of this? I now need to get out of the box and look from a different view. But my lazy ass doesn’t want to move from the box…..

I’ve noticed these days I’m procrastinating things I can do now. I need to kick this habit before I’m divulged by it. My finance to seem to be shitty, people who owe me money can’t pay me back. I swear to myself I’m not going to borrow money to anyone anymore, even though they are my best friend. I blame myself for this predicament, I brought myself here. Too much living for the moment. Now I’m thinking of a future, I want to move ahead and I can’t move ahead without fixing my problems of today….

Political Ramblings

Over the last couple of weeks, religion in Malaysia has been highlighted on the front page of our local newspaper. Spouses fighting on burial rights and the fight of the syariah law against the civil law. Being Indian you can say that I’m on one side of they fence and I wish to have equality. Although it is said that Malaysian have equal right but secretly we all know that the government always help the Malay community. I’m trying not to be racist but last couple of days you see the facts. The 9 ministers who were to appeal to the Prime Minister at the last minute declined because of National Security, What does that mean?

It is about time the government deal with this matter and not sweep it under the rug anymore. In this time and age where I think the community is open enough to discuss it. I am looking forward for a peaceful revolution, where all the non-Muslim communities stand up for their rights and ask for the equality that we deserve. Of course this will be hard. Things just seem to die down after sometime. The other problem I see is that we a governed by old & experience people where their values on religion is much more stronger that the younger generation, as such they would not want to budge from their value.

Our Prime Minister I believe is a reasonable man, not like our previous Prime Minister who was always I thought very confrontational. Pak Lah reminds me of Tai Chi, he projects a balance. I believe he will be able to make a just decision when it comes to this matter so for the mean time we are only to wait… (For how long?) There is apart of me there is also worried that if a revolution were to take place would it be like May 13. The unspoken day in Malaysian History…..
Food for though for you guys out there

Diary: Another week

The week has been good on me, I was busy with work and all but one can’t complain. My ongoing Bangladesh project is taking a toll on me. I always find myself telling myself I want to give up. The Bangladesh representatives are such dumb asses. They have no clue on the business and they expect to do it their way. Last Friday was Jaznizah’s last day, it said that married people can’t work in AKN, it will be a matter of time for i. you break up with your partner ii. Or you leave the company. I do wish her all the best and I hear she is going to be a mum. Best of Luck.

Last Saturday I headed to KL Convention Centre for the Petronas 3 on 3 Basketball. Petronas paid a big sum of money for this project, due to it being a rush project and all. I met Zaifah, Jaya and Joyce there they were maintaining the system there but behind the curtain Daryl was watching the dedication the service. I guess the whole event went smoothly. Thank God

Sunday was church day, we headed to St Anthony. Mum had prayed for Alex for his STPM and I guess some payment was in order. The church was now painted and renovated. It looks good. Mass was celebrated in 3 languages so the sermon was 3 times long.

Oh Yeah, MAN Utd Won over LiverFool ! ! ! ! And u doubted us.

Diary: New Yeah, Sabah and a Wedding

This New Year I did something quite different. I attended midnight mass. There weren’t lot of people anyways, all partying I’d suppose. This year I didn’t feel like partying as I had nothing to celebrate. I have 3 major resolutions that I would really one to keep. But I’m thinking of dropping one as I think I could never stay away from it. Melman had booked tickets for a holiday to Sabah with Sylvester he was to leave on the 3rd of January. I was thinking should I follow him; he did extend him invitation to me. I decided not to, but on the 3rd of January when everybody was heading to work I was heading to the airport in the spur of the moment. I called up the airline got my tickets and then I called Mel and told him I was coming. It was my 1st Air Asia flight and I must say it was pretty bad. I dint like that the chairs could not recline it seats to accommodate my comfort ability.

The flight was 2 hours and 45 minutes which I spend reading. I reach Sabah at about 10pm. I was quite hungry. I was not going to spend RM6 for Maggie Mee. Mel and Sylvester were glad to receive me. They came in the 4x4 truck. We headed to Tanjung Aru and my 1st sign of civilization was the sign of SFC in bright red color. We headed to the hawker centre for dinner. After dinner we headed to the Hotel. I checked in and we headed to the clubs to Party. And at that I leave my trip be. I came back on Saturday.

My old school mate was getting married on Saturday. It was like an MBSS re-union. I met old friends and school mate. Apparently no one could recognize me. Old Nick names us being called. I really forgot my nick was ‘Ah lok’. It was a wonderful dinner and wedding.

Diary: My Christmas

I’m back from my two week long break. A break I believe that I was entitled too. Although I was called several time on the 1st week of holiday and I had to pop in one day. I think it was still good in the hood. Christmas was such a memorable one. We attended the midnight mass at St Josephs. Mass was boring as usual. After mass we headed back home, opened a bottle of wine had fruit cake and chocolates. We opened our presents; I got my shaver that I’ve been wanting for so long. Yippee!! Alex got a vest and shirt from me and Andrew got an Adidas Jersey. Dad got a DVD box-set of the Secret of Bible where else Mum got the greatest hits of Shania Twain and a Power Yoga VCD.

In the morning Andrew got us Wanton Noodles for breakfast. We got up quite early; mum was busy in the kitchen finishing up her pot luck dish. By 10 o’clock we left headed to Klang. We reached Klang by 11, Aunt B and I headed to Tesco to get some wine. By 12 everyone came with their dishes and all. Mama made a stuffed gourde curry and veggies, Aunt B made prawns, Uncle Tony brought Kicap Chicken, Aunty Pat made her Mutton varaval and chicken kuzi(her specialty), my mum made beef rending. You can see if was loads to eat, it was a feast that we all enjoyed. After lunch it was time to open more presents. All of us took our turns giving presents away and opening them.

At night we headed to Uncle Tony’s place for dinner. He had an open house where he invited his neighbors, work mates and family members. We had a nice dinner. Uncle Tony chatted with me asking how I was and all. He told me that he was quite happy to see me grow well. He also said he was proud to see Alex do his STPM and Andrew getting 6A in his PMR.

The next day, it was leftover of the feast we had on X’mas. We went to get Aunt B a brand new PC. Now her PC is quite a kick ass one. The night we had dinner at Annie’s place. After dinner we headed home.
